Woman Of Palestine Is a Woman Of Steel

On a weekly basis, an article will be written about inspirational Arabic women that shape up the Middle East and help make a difference in it. With great honor and pleasure I chose my first article to be about the strength and patience of the Palestinian women.
Sitting next to my mother as she tells me stories of the empowering Palestinian women I can’t control my eyes from swelling up as tears fall down my face. These women have withstood and are still withstanding pain that no other society can handle. Mama went further telling me how it felt when her mother, whom I never met, was killed in her house in South Lebanon in 1987 by a phosphorus bomb, the reason I wanted to mention my martyr grandma is because she, like many Palestinian women, didn’t agree to take refuge and leave her house and land even though more than numerous bombs were showering the village everyday.
There are a lot of Middle Eastern women that make us proud to be Arabs and the most important thing that is missing in our society today but found in the heart of every Palestinian women living in Palestine is patience, hope, faith in God and a strong belief in holding onto their land and not leaving no matter what the obstacles because they believe that their land will be freed by the grace of God.
These women believe and accept their destiny, and their first and only priority is to take care of their house and children and protect them in every way possible, even though their homes, villages and loved ones are lost, they remain strong and patient.
The main question here is what is being done to help these women? Especially the women of Gaza, they have no shelter, hardly any food or building materials to rebuild their destroyed homes and lack of crucial medicines and any people that tried to help are being killed, like those innocently killed in the Turkish-led Flotilla’ Ship, that till this day Israel refuses to apologies over.
These are their basic rights, that all countries in the world should strive to achieve, where is the United Nation, where are our thinkers, where are our men when all of this is happening? What is the world doing to lift up the spirits of the Palestinians and save a remarkable race from constant attacks?
A story mama told that I had to mention is one about a lady in Palestine centuries ago, where as she was captured she called out to the Khalifa (successor) at the time, saying ‘Wa Motasemah’, so he started a war just to save this women and freed her, however now there is no ‘Motasemah’ to be found ... ‘wa hasratah’. The Essence of this story is to show how brave men in the past were and how they always achieved their objectives, on the contrary now the only things happening are unnecessary wars and innocent people being killed.
